Dr. Malik is a graduate of Aga Khan University Medical College. He did Internal Medicine training at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis and rheumatology fellowship at University of Florida, Gainesville, where he also did extensive musculoskeletal ultrasound training for diagnosis of rheumatic diseases as well as ultrasound-guided injections for various conditions.

Dr. Malik has special interest in Narrative Medicine, medical humanities, and clinical education.  His articles have appeared in Dawn newspaper and Al-Jazeera.  He is a TEDx Lahore speaker with appearances on national TV and other media.

Dr. Malik teaches both medical and creative writing through various workshops, including the Seattle-based Clarion West Writers Workshop. He has been a visiting writer speaker at Florida State University, University of Minnesota, and Anglia Ruskin University (UK). He has also moderated panels at Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) and is a Board Member of the Salam Award for Imaginative Fiction.

Plenty of research and clinical evidence suggests diet and the gut environment play a role in the development of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus (SLE), Fibromyalgia, and other rheumatic conditions. At the Arthritis & Rheumatology center we believe in treating our patients using a holistic, multimodality approach with special focus on anti-inflammatory diet, yoga, and exercise along with standard of care rheumatic medications.

Kiran Asad is an American trained registered dietician who graduated summa cum laude from Keiser University, Florida, where she was on the Dean’s List for four consecutive years. She is certified in anti-inflammatory diet from the University of Arizona and trained in low-histamine, low-antigen, and anti-inflammatory diets. Her nutrition specialties include kidney disease management (gout, renal failure, dialysis dependence) as well as diabetes management, cardiovascular disease, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, hypertension and overall fitness.

Ms. Asad is passionate about helping her patients reach their nutrition and weight-loss goals through simple and sustainable lifestyle changes, and has been a guest speaker for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Advocacy for Diabetes & Endocrine (ADVICE) Academy.
